Stumbling
like a drunken
bear, who stole the forest
ranger's stash of beer, I clamber
up the
stairs yet to be completed between you
and I. Dirtying my paws without gloves
or socks, and other scraps of clothes soaked through
with smoke, liquor, and the loud, shouting love
of my friends at our
favored bar, I open your
door, only to find
you gone.
After hours it
seems, I remember I
dropped you off at the airport this
morning.
